  Dear birthmother, a very special woman...Hello! We greatly admire your courage in considering open adoption. We know you want to make the best decision for both you and your baby. We appreciate that you’re taking a big step to explore this option that will allow your baby to grow up in a loving home with two parents who have qualities that are important to you. About us: We are Cheryl Mann and Sharon Close, partners in love and life since 1995. We have a warm, nurturing relationship based on open communication, love and mutual respect. We are best friends, soul mates, and share the same important core life values. The child who becomes a part of our family will be immersed in this love. Family is a central part of our lives, and we’ve wanted our own child to love for many years. We know that our baby is going to come from a caring birthmother like you. Why Sharon is so special (by Cheryl): Sharon has an adventurous spirit – especially with kids – dating back to her years as a Girl Scout camp counselor. From snorkeling and surfing, to outdoor adventure, she is full of energy and enthusiasm for life! She can’t wait to teach our child everything from crafts to woodworking, baking cookies and building forts! She is at her best with kids -- patient, kind, gentle, compassionate and lots of fun. Sharon has done marketing work for the circus, the Girls Scouts, and is currently a marketing manager for a software company. She’s looking forward to being at home full-time with our baby. Why Cheryl is so special (by Sharon): Cheryl is one of the most compassionate, kind and loving people I know. She’s a good listener and doesn’t judge others. She will offer our child calm and gentle guidance. Cheryl enjoys quiet and creative moments with kids when they read stories, carve Halloween pumpkins and cuddle on the couch to watch a movie together. Cheryl’s caring nature led her to open her own business that helps people achieve their goals. Her flexible schedule will allow time during the day with our child. Friends and Family: We both grew up in loving families full of laughter and good times with brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles and grandparents. Our families can hardly wait for our little one to join our family gatherings and festivities. We’re looking forward to having our child become a part of the memories we’ve been building with family, friends, and their children. Home Life: Our home is in a great family-oriented neighborhood in Oakland, California, is shared with our two dogs and cat. We’re looking forward to playing at the nearby parks and playgrounds, local zoos, beaches and amusement parks as a family of three! We love to have friends, family and their kids over for get-togethers. Our home toy box is stocked with fun books, games, and a variety of toys for our visiting nieces, nephews and "kid friends." Adventures and Travel: We love adventures! Together, we’ve explored Thailand, France, Mexico, Hawaii and places closer to home such as Disneyland and Yosemite. We’re looking forward to taking our child on camping trips, river raft, ski and swim at some of the most beautiful beaches, mountains and lakes in California! We want to show our child the world, explore new habitats and experience different cultures.
